i took friday off work and travelled back to wanganui on thursday to go and see jimmy carr with mike. it was a great night out, havent laughed so much for a very long time.
friday i went around the op shops with mum and found a pile of last of the summer wine dvds, all brand new and sealed for $5 each.
saturday morning, mike messaged and asked if i wanted to go up mt ruapehu. i of course said yes, and borrowed mums camera as i had not brought my own for a change.
we had a great afternoon, taking the new gondolas up to the cafe and then climbing towards the snow line from there. we were not even close to making it before coming back down, as it was rather slow going - mountain goat i am not! from there we headed towards turangi and went to the thermal hot pools before heading home. we got home about 10 that night.
sunday, i went to the sanson markets with mum and dad. another good day, scored some vintage lego, some more dvds and two antique cheese graters, one for myself and another for tanz as her one is broken..
early afternoon it was time to head home, so i packed up my backpack, leaving behind the dvds and other heavy items. this proved to be very, very lucky.
less than 30mins out of town, and a car that passed me flagged me over. the driver told me my backpack was open and i was losing things!! the teeth on the zip had separated.
on a quick check i had lost one of the graters, my bright pink lunch container and mums camera with all my photos from the mountain.
i immediately turned around and started back tracking, looking along the sides of the road for my gear. i went all the way back to town and then headed out again. eventually i found the grater, squashed flat. no sign of my container or the camera.
i pulled over, called mum to let her know and then posted on a local facebook group about the camera, not expecting much luck.
i carried on back to new plymouth, in a rather foul mood.
by the miracle of facebook and the local people, within 24 hours someone posted on another group they had found a camera on the side of the road, and it was ours! so its now back with mum. hopefully the SD card survived.
