won this set the other day. just paid for it, so hopefully it will be here thursday or so.
a few days ago, the club president blair emailed, reminding me a trip he was taking to silver stream railways and inviting me along.
it was a great day out! silver stream is down in the hutt valley, a good 2-3 hours drive one way. so worth it though. they had steam trains and another which blair called a rail car giving rides. it was neat to get so close to the locos and actually get to ride them. my two $5 auctions arrived this morning too. quite a good lot, heaps to use for parts. for some reason some of the vintage wagons had had the top sections glued on to the flat decks. most unusucal. not a bad buy though. i also won yesterday a small lot that comes with a takara tomy lime green level crossing and also a bell house. $12. havent paid for that yet, but will do today some time. on sunday, i won two auctions on trademe for $5 each. one has vintage locos and wagons and the other has vintage red risers, big loader tracks[which will be donated] and a few other bits and bobs. quite pleased with the wins. will post photos when it arrives.
im also watching on ebay MIB duncan takes charge and skarloey storms through. hopefully will get them both, though post is massive. also, on trademe im watching percy and the search cars. fingers crossed, again! my boss linda and i went to the churton school gala last night. didnt get much thomas stuff... a yellow riser, a push along james and a fake big loader set. she also found a lightning mcqueen radio for me. not sure if it goes or not, but its a jolly nice model even if it doesnt. not much else though, some toys and clothes for the kids and a book for my neice. spent $11 all up. really good buying.
we also met with a rep at work and while looking through his catalogue, i spied the fake set i saw at another dollar store. it doesnt come with a thomas-style engine, but the tracks are compatible with tomy. he will send the set when the order gets shipped, so i get it for free. gotta love free trains. we got some "snow mats" in at work too, so ive bought one to put underneath the christmas show layout. while doing the work banking today, i had a hunch to have a look at farmers for the lego winter bakery set. they had a few there for $100 each. went back to work and my awesome boss let me walk back down to pick up a set.
delighted to have it. will have to get it built asap for the xmas layout. now im just looking for the winter post office, but that likely wont be out locally til next christmas. this week, i have had a couple of enquiries about a metal rod from inside the big loader chassis. this lead to me finally taking comparison photos of a genuine and a fake. at the time i was unaware there were fakes, so its interesting to learn something new.
eventually i will get round to comparing the truck covers as there must be some way to tell them apart. called into one of my favourite op shops today and picked up a small bag of tomy for .99c. havent checked to see whether the thomas works or not, but its not a major. i also went down to palmy for something to do. ive been buying disney xmas ornaments from the warehouse, and am missing 4, so was hoping the palmy store would have them rest. no joy but nevermind. :)
my glowing diesel and trucks arrived yesterday. i quite like this set. his loads glow, and both he and the trucks are covered in white flecks. i like that you can tell the trucks apart from standard ones.
his photo is here while playing around, i figured out how to shift blocks of photos to a new page. as a result, the trackmaster accessories and trackmaster boxed sets pages have now been split.
used to be both the original and fisher-price ranges shared a page, but they were getting too cluttered and hard to tell apart, and with fisher-price releasing more and more it needed to be done. now each has its own page, which should make things easier to see. |
