ive finally done some work on robs layout. we spent sunday afternoon at the club, so i was able to nag at him a little to tell me what to do with it. so we now have a road painted on, including a parking lot behind the station, a path to the station and shop and a sidewalk by the road where the houses are. i went down today and sketched out the driveways for the houses, and draw designs so i can make each drive unique. one has a star, the church has a cross, and another has a circle of maple leaves. they will be painted to hopefully look like cobblestones or simila
as we are holding the christmas show at the clubrooms, i have reduced space for setting up on. so, today, i got my boxes down and had a quick set up in my room. ive removed maybe 10 or so pieces of track, reducing the width quite a bit.
i had hoped to use the infra red RC set, but wont have room. i am utilising the auto transfer station again, putting it on the front instead of the side, which helped with the reduction. it also balances out the big bridge along the back quite well. the photo shows the layout minus decorations. the orange piece is a takara tomy bell station, more interactive than the windmill. i will use a takara tomy snowplow thomas and trackmaster skarloeys puppet show set. it has just dawned on me, this month marks 4 years since i first built this site. 4 years of wonderful emails from readers, of sharing my knowledge and learning things as well.
thank you to all who have shared the journey so far. the emails of queries and ideas make the site worth continuing. yesterday morning, my last box of goodies from canada finally arrived.
thankfully almost everything came through unscathed. a few boxcars have ladders snapped off, and one coupler has been snapped in half, but the ornaments and robs mug were perfect. i am glad to have everything safely with me again. hate when stuff is "missing". we have started decorating at the clubrooms, and im on a cleaning kick. i tore the kitchen apart on thursday, all because i wanted to put a brush and shovel in one of the cupboards! ended up tidying that one cupboard and then couldnt stop. so the front room is clean to within an inch of its life, and this afternoon i plan to work on the layout room, sorting out the junk buried underneath. after club, rob and i went out riding. he makes a jolly good passenger. we went up to the lake again and went for a walk. need to adjust the suspension as its not set up for two, and we both noticed every little change in the road. mum and i went to savemart this morning, looking for christmas stuff for the club. no luck, but i did get 3 tomy bridge railings. this afternoon, rob picked me up to help load up the christmas layout we built last year. we took it to the club rooms, so i can do more work on it for this years show.
we also started decorating for the show... so far we only have tinsel, but i will get what i can when i can, plus whatever other members can spare. this also included cleaning up the front room, clearing junk and putting things away where it belongs. a good way to spend the afternoon. this morning, one of the two boxes i sent home from canada finally arrived.
this box had all my more expensive stuff in it... the metal christmas train, the epoxy for the club and other brand new modelling things. pleased to have one, and with minimal damage. looking forward to the second box as it has the second hand trains from midas mart and a few other special things. |
