i got home from train club last night to find the merry go copter set sitting at my computer desk. the box has substatial damage to the sides and the instructions have been torn in half, but other than that its in great condition. besides, i paid all of $45NZD which is not bad at all. its a really cute set and quite technical for its age [late 70s]. photos of the set can be found here, instructions here and photos of the insides here. that was the last merry go set i needed, and now i only have to find vintage magnetic henry to finish the original tomy range entirely. WHOOP!
many thanks to my friend jarrod in aussie for braving the target toy sale and picking up two thomas sets... arthur at the copper mine and thomas' midnight ride with glow in the dark tracks. they should be here next week some time. i will post photos when they arrive. cant wait. hehe
ive rebuilt the page with the vintage tomy accessories, splitting the different items into groups. it was so messy before. i plan to redo the photos eventually and also get shots of items ive missed.
ive also added a new page showing other train toys i have. so far im showing a wooden pull along loco and an old fisher-price. check them out here. enjoy!!! many thanks to club member john for diagnosing and curing the source of a high pitched squeal coming from the merry go train loco. turns out the inside of the motor itself was dry. a tiny drop of marklin oil turned the noise from something ear splitting into what it should be... a fast paced buzz.
mum and i went to palmy on saturday. i picked up some lube for my merry go train that is really noisy when running, and i also got 2 tomica sets from toyworld that were reduced. no photos yet. tried to get a replacement talking salty, but no joy darn it.
i won a merry go copter set on ebay this morning. with postage, it came to about $45NZD. pretty darn good considering its got the original instructions and has no missing pieces. will post photos when it arrives. farmers has finally put clearance stickers on their tomica stock. i picked up the petrol station set today for $20, down from $35. i hope to get another 2 sets later this week or next week. photos can be seen on the relavant hypercity pages.
