i have put together a page for the takara thomas engines. they were getting lost in amongst the boxed set photos and it helps make it easier to see them on their own page. it can be found here.
while doing a test set up for a layout, i decided to get my hypercity buildings down as i hadnt actually get them up and only had photos of the boxes. they are really quite nifty and the detail put into them is amazing. i can see better now why tomica and takara have such a huge following in the adult world.
i took photos of each set and uploaded them to the hypercity accessories page here. was good to investigate these a bit more, especially considering ive had them for this is the layout i put together. its running night at the club, and ive asked kylie and keegan along to play with my new flip face thomas. this set also has the copper mine and flipping truck. got home from weeding a friends garden to a parcel on the step. it came from dale, a fellow collector in australia. bubble wrapped securely inside, was RC flip face thomas, a hard to find piece from the original HIT tidmouth sheds set.
i bought the sheds from savemart last year for $7, missing thomas, his remote and two doors. thanks to dale, my set is almost complete, just needing the doors. thomas works really well, and im contemplating using him at the next christmas show, having a separate track for him. thomas works off special pieces of track, which trip the switches underneath, flipping his face from happy to surprised. really pleased to have him at long last, especially in such good condition. thanks, dale!! my lot from australia arrived this morning. pretty good for $20!!! with shipping it came to $41, which is still good. worth it to get a spare ned, a character who i had paid $33 for! plus the extra accessories and track.
they run nice and are in great condition. a little fluff around the drive axles, but thats it. really pleased to have jack, and also to be able to cross something off my list. with major, major thanks to dale, i have a refurbished FLIP FACE RC THOMAS FROM THE ORIGINAL TIDMOUTH SHEDS SET coming! he gave it to me for the cost of postage [about $10!] which is amazingly generous. i had $50AUD left on my loaded for travel card, and it was going to cost $15 to get that money back, so i decided instead to spend on ebay australia. the card is due to expire in april, so i wasted no time in shopping, and good thing too, as i found this! i won all this for $20AUD, a brilliant price. mainly i wanted jack, as i dont have him yet, but at the same time i wasnt going to say no to another ned or elizabeth. just recently, a ned sold for over $60USD. plus it means i have parts if mine needs repair at some stage.
the seller had their accessories in another auction, so i messaged her and she was able to correct it, which was awesome of her. hopefully the lot will be here next week. at some stage i might also be getting a vintage tomy playmat which was a mail away promotion in the uk, but thatll be a little ways off as im still job hunting. finally got a chance to upload the photos from saturday and sunday. they include vintage cars and motorbikes, steam traction engines and a steam crane, plus a few various bits and bobs. over 200 photos! my poor old camera needed to be charged by lunchtime sunday. poor thing!
the photos are here this weekend is vintage/heritage weekend in town. there was meant to be a steam engine, but it has a fault so wont be coming. there will be steam crane restored by steamrail wanganui running off a traction engine, and a vintage car display.
i will be out and about taking photos and video all weekend, and will post them on the site. havent made a page yet, but that will come soon enough. mum and dad got back from aussie last night. they brought back a few goodies. i didnt give mum much of a list, and just as well as there wasnt much trackmaster there anyway. i did ask her to try and find the lego train shown, and also the jim shore ornament, and she was successful!
the tomica bits came from dimmys store, where they were massively reduced. the tunnels were $1.79each, and the engines $5. brilliant stuff! the globe is canada and plays "o canada". the centre piece turns and blows the glitter around. surrounding this are the provincial flags. a wonderful piece. i just love it! i have created a new page for my hornby battery operated noddy set. i used part of this for the christmas show and was asked by other plarail collectors to show more of it, hence the new page.
there will likely more photos tomorrow as i left essential parts at the club. the new page is here |
