so yes, any additions are within the various lion king or bonco pages.
as the site changes, it seems there will be less blog posts. i am still adding to my lion king and bonco collections, but for whatever reason not doing posts anymore.
so yes, any additions are within the various lion king or bonco pages. the big lot of sifters i won on trademe arrived today. they are all in really nice shape, with most turning freely. i also won another cake tin this morning, so that collection is coming along really nicely.
the sellers very generously included an 8th sifter, one which i already had but is my favourite "cornflower" pattern that works nicely, so im pleased to have a spare for actual use as opposed to display. ok, i have split the main lion king page into 5... one each for the movies, timon and pumbaa series and the musical. the main page was getting too long and cluttered, and i feel each "branch" deserves its own place. i also won a dvd gift set on trademe for $20 that came with special lithograph sketches done by artists that designed the characters. i also won a group of 3 plastic cups from the musical for $1.50 plus postage. i already had one, but these have the lids. ive been buying a lot of the skybox cards to try and finish my collection. they are mostly being sent to kyle, so will have to organise a shipment from him asap, get some of my stuff out of his house. lol.
i also finally upgraded my phone a few weeks ago, going from a cheap one to a much higher spec. still learning how to the drive the thing. after finding my childhood folder of the lion king skybox cards, i am on a mission to fill the gaps. i splurged tonight with 4 different sellers and have the following on their way either to me or kyle. these fill a lot of empty slots. really only 3 cards to find now. there are others that were like promos from various places, so whether i will get them is another matter. need to do more research. the line drawing coloring cards and puzzle/activity cards were included in packs sold in the usa i think, while the others in the collage are inserts from the general set, along with the foil boarder concept art pair.
i will be going through my other folders and looking at selling the sets i no longer want or that were added just cos. well, that was a wild, busy and exhausting couple of days.
i had organised a day trip to wellington with michael a little while ago. i shot down to wanganui on friday after work, and he and i went out for dinner and then watched a movie at his place. after too little sleep, the alarms were going off and he came to pick me up for what would turn out to be a very long day. we were both stuffed by the end of it. we hit the road about 5.30am, and didnt get home until 11.30. we saw a lot of wellington we hadnt seen well before, namely the coastal areas. stunning. i am hoping we can both take a week off our jobs and spend the time there just hanging out and exploring. then, on sunday, i had arranged to meet up with new contact steve at the sanson markets so we could do a swap. i had two georgie pie bags he wanted, and he had two lion king items for me. from him, i got a strip from the sanitarium bags back in the day, and the flyer for the free play pad from the VHS. i put them in the car and then started having a look at the market. steve came and found me, saying one seller had lion king VHS. he showed me and left me scraping my jaw off the ground. she had all 3 movies, and all 3 of the timon and pumbaa releases. absolutely amazing find right there at $2 each. no bonco this time, but i am beyond stoked with the videos instead. i also snagged a copy of the aristocats simply because it was advertising the release of the original TLK vhs. the clamshell copy i bought on trademe. i really need to knock this collection on the head soon, before it gets out of control. the trading cards are coming from ebay. going to try and complete my childhood set. i finally found my folder over the last trip and am missing a few, so going to slowly fill the gaps. oh yeh, i also upgraded my phone. almost all of the photos below were taken with it. much better!! ok, over the last few months, due to changes in my personal life, i have slowly been selling off the collection thanks to help from a friend in chch. i am sending him several boxes a month, and he is selling on my behalf. so far, i have made over $2000 and barely scratched the surface. i am also going to sell off the lego trains, already selling ewans ones back to him. gradually, the site will be wound down and eventually the tomy and thomas pages will be deleted totally. its been one heck of a journey, but its one that needed to end and my focus in life has changed a lot. i am still a sucker for the minis, but they are all i am actively collecting and not selling. i am also buying lion king stuff that is relevant to me, and am now collecting a range of retro bakeware called bonco, an old new zealand brand. i got stuck on those after so much success with my fruit mince pies last year that were all baked in a bonco tray. john and i did the op shops on satuday. didnt find much, but picked up the lion guard dvd. the hats i bought on trademe with several others than will be donated. these arrived from trademe. a few more items should come in in the next few days.
the hyenas i was getting worried about as they took a week to be posted, so was pleased when they turned up, with the box which i didnt realise was included. hopefully in the next couple of days the pvc lot and the hungry jacks should arrive soon. i won this nice lot of vintage lion king on trademe for $1. lol. ive been after the mufasa and simba model for a while, and the lot also appears to have the comic action timon and the zazu that goes with the mattel action figure range. not sure about the adult simba or scar figures. i think the rest are georgie pie. i also won the zazu plush from the musical. slowly ticking through the different plush released. additionally, i bought the 3 fluffy puffy hyenas last week. they are still to arrive, hopefully this week coming. john and i did the op shops this morning, and i found the pic and pop ball popper at the valley hospice. complete with all 4 balls. really happy with it.
was just browsing on ebay and found a listing with the hungry jacks lion king set. i made a best offer for the first time, which the seller accepted. the set is coming from australia, so will be a few weeks away.
the only i needed was simba, but they seem quite rare, so grabbed it while i had the chance. |
