thanks, margaret! more to follow asap, likely monday as we have the show this weekend and set up starts thursday night and we wont get done until late sunday night by the looks. mega excitment!
margaret emailed me over night and the big lot i purchased from her is on its way and should be here next week.
so a big, huge, ginormous thank you to margaret for making this one of the most exciting purchases ive made for a very long time. mega excited!! in other news, the club show is this weekend. i will be running toy story and the tri-ang layouts. no tomy this time as i dont have time to plan anything or get it set up. we are starting set up on thursday night, moving the club portables down to the race course and getting them in place and then friday afternoon will be setting up the perimeters of visiting layouts and helping them move in when they start arriving. will hopefully get heaps of photos of everything. this show marks my 2 year anniversary of joining the club, one of the best moves ive ever made. the two takara buildings from margaret arrived yesterday. i love these pieces. each comes with a pla-kid, namely the fat controller and a conductor. they both have a chair and desk, which the pla-kids can sit at. they are a nice addition and something different. margaret sent me another email with more bits she has, including couplers and tyres, girders, flexi tracks and other useful parts, so i have agreed to buy most of that also. she is giving me a tomy encyclopedia type book, detailing models released and giving track plans. very exciting. really cant wait for it all to arrive.
i emailed margaret, the seller of the two takara houses in my previous post, and asked if she had anything else japanese to sell. she emailed back with a yes and included photos. so i have agreed to buy the rest of what she has which includes a thomas snowplough set, another of the little bell stations, a train wash, another roller coaster mountain and thomas and the chinese dragon. makes up even more for the gala and lack of spending in aussie, lol. i will update when the deal has been completed and everything has arrived.
in other news, michael h from the pla-rail facebook group has posted to me a plarail catalogue. shouldnt be too far away. i will take scans and post them when it arrives. after the slightly disappointing gala, we went to a book sale in town. i didnt find any thomas books, but did find a game and a puzzle. both are missing bits, but none of them are important for the picture and make it easier for me to justify gluing pieces in my scrapbooks. dad also found a tin and plastic trainset. the engine runs but is very noisy as it has metal gearing. i did lube it without much success.
on trademe yesterday i won two takara track add-ons. they are very kool and part of a set of 3 i think. basically they are a section of track with a house on one side and a landscape on the otherside. the houses open like a polly pocket and both come with pla-kids, in this case the fat controller and a conductor. i won them for $20. i love the variety the japanese market has. will post more detailed photos when they arrive. there was a school gala this morning. i arrived a little late and missed out on 3 thomas puzzles, but i did find a set of ertl thomas sheds, some thomas and graeme base books, a tiny mickey mouse for the christmas layout and a single, lonesome tomy magnetic flat deck. i also found some railscene dvds and a steam train video. quite pleased with it all. also gave me a chance to get out on the bike and see everything was ok. had to put air in the front tyre as it was like jelly.
will be heading to the club later today or tomorrow to drop the stuff i got for there off. mum and i got home at 3.30 this morning from australia. we had a jolly good trip, despite the first 4 days being stormy. there were lots of trees brought down and heaps of flooding in places. i didnt buy much thomas stuff, there just wasnt anything there really. i got green salty, yellow rheneas, the new CGI thomas, luke, paxton and stafford. their photos are here. i did get a few things there arent thomas related. from build a bear, i got mickey, minnie and the disney princess bear. at an op shop i found a 1968 dumbo vinyl record and pop up book... both are in good condition and cost a whole $3. plus i got more rail stickers for my scrapbooks than ever before... heaps of the things. our main adventure was to ipswich workshops rail museum for "a day out with thomas". we had to travel to brisbane, which is about an hour away, change trains and then an hour again to ipswich. photos of the trip are going to be on a new page. i bought lots there as well, a nice shirt and cap, pens and pressed pennies. i am glad to be home... its hard work shopping every day for 2 weeks, lol. i forgot about the awesome takara tomy egypt set that i won right before we left. it is in good condition, complete except for the instruction sheet. i love the amount of detail they put into the design of the pieces, though a little baffled why they didnt stamp the larger peices. photos of this wicked set are here
