i dug the baseboard out at club and will maybe go out over the weekend to set the track that i do have and see how it looks. cant believe i might finally get to start on it!
literally just won henry on jauce for $116NZD, not a bad price. just need to find percy, the buildings and a couple of bits of rolling stock to have the entire tomix range.
i dug the baseboard out at club and will maybe go out over the weekend to set the track that i do have and see how it looks. cant believe i might finally get to start on it! the large disney 3d map set arrived this morning. i really, really like the designs on it and am pleased to see so many different characters, both classic and recent. running night at the club tomorrow, so might take it along and give it a try.
i had a good buy on jauce the other day for the tomix layout... two 3-way points. i am expecting an email soon telling me i have to get my items sent, so they wont be too far off hopefully. the hikari with light gimmick i bought earlier in the week arrived today. works well and the headlight is a nice touch.
big thanks to geri, expert on all things plarail, for pointing out the differences between it and the one that came with the viaduct. i won a part of a doraemon set on jauce last night, and have seperated the range onto its own page as a result.
the teacups ride completes the 4 different "fairground" items released. pooh bear: ferris wheel hello kitty: merry go round pokemon: pop up stumps doraemon: teacups. had a small trackmaster find at farmers the other day... the add on pack with 2 pieces of stop track. they were reduced, so i picked up two of the three sets they had.
also went to a gala yesterday. didnt get much at all... wasnt as good as the last one. another coming at another school next thursday, so will hit that and see what there is. ![]() well, its been 6 years since i started this site, and what a ride its been. many things have changed in that time, and many things have stayed the same as well. the site has grown, as has the collection. ive added several rare pieces in the last few months, and helped a few people with repairs and ideas. ive met ucwepn, made many other new friends both online and in person. looking forward to seeing what is in the future. got woken up by an earlier courier this morning, delivering a box from japan [surprise surprise!]. i got a payment request from hobby search while we were away, and i paid it when we got back on wednesday. in the box was the 2 new peanuts themed sets. im really thrilled with these, they are just stunning. all the little details and such. click the pic to see the brand new page and more photos. last year, plarail released a hamburger car through mcdonalds. this year, they have done it again, with a few slight color changes. i won one on jauce overnight 1500y. wont be here for a bit, when i get the trans green track sent.
well, finally got around to writing part 2 of the surprise buys in melbourne post. i bought a fair bit of thomas stuff while there. a brand new release called close call cliff, so recent it wasnt even in my list of sets to buy. i found that at kmart. from big w, i finally got the revolution essential engines gift pack that came with the sodor race day thomas. myer had the 3 in 1 track builder set with diesel and toys r us had 5 sets of the older trackmaster icy overpass and the snowy mountain rescue revolution set. pleased to cross a few more bits off the list. on monday, my good friend and fellow thomas/plarail collector, ucwepn, came with his wife to have a coffee. it was great finally meet someone ive chatted with online for years. after meeting with chris, mum and i caught the train to the chadstone shopping centre, in the hopes of finding a build a bear toothless. no luck there, but i did buy 2 new ones, one from chadstone and one from highpoint. while mum was in a chemist and i was waiting outside, a huge window display of different tshirt prints caught my eye, with one mannequin wearing a shirt of woodys roundup, from toy story. closer inspection brought a thomas 70th print to my attention. we went in, and i bought a neat mickey shirt, the woody one and then started looking for the thomas. again, no joy, but i found a stack of better shirts instead. PLARAIL!!! i hadnt been that excited at a store find in a long time. they only had one design, and i remembered seeing another of their stores somewhere, so enquired as to its location. turned out it was mere minutes up the road in the melbourne emporium. when we got back into town, we dropped the parcels at the hotel and then headed up the road, where i found another 5 designs. i got two of each, and will cut 1 of each design off and sew it onto an adult shirt so i can wear them at shows. click the shirt pic to see all 6 awesome designs. all in all, we had a wicked time there. so worth it for the show and the shopping. beats the gold coast by miles as far as shops are concerned. mum and i both want to go back already, and for a longer time, too.
mum and i got back from melbourne last night. we had an absolute blast, with one little bit of bad luck and bad timing on my part. i lost the big big loader store display i found on jauce. it closed on friday night, and the hotel we were in charged for internet... $15 for 2 hours. had i waited another 10mins to cough up the money and log in, i would have been ok. but, all things considered, thats minor. still gutted, but there will be another. we had a great time there and spent heaps. melbourne has a wonderful public transport system including trams. in the city centre, they are free and even a day ticket is $8 to go virtually anywhere. there are two massive malls and both are less than an hour away in either direction. on the gold coast, going anywhere is a day trip on the bus. here, you can do chadstone by train and bus and then get a tram and hit highpoint in the same day if you really wanted to i had some really good buys over there, including thomas sets and jim shore ornaments. we went to the lion king stage show on sunday and again, i spent up large both before the show and during the intermission, buying a shirt, simba mask, hanging zazu, baby simba plush, charm bracelet and a keyring. good thing, as after the show, both souviner counters were swamped. the show is AMAZING! if you have the chance to go once in your life, take it and run. mum and i both loved it. we had great seats... front row and slightly to the side, so we could see a bit around the curtains. part 2: tomorrow
