lindas husband dale got home yesterday, bringing my rivarossi john wilkes coaches with him. they fed me dinner and then headed to robs place to let him have first look. i took them out to the clubrooms today to give them a run. they run beautifully and the loco looks awesome with matching rolling stock.
won an auction on ebay on tuesday, a vintage tyco canadiana loco. been after one for a while and i won it by 1cent. i had an autobid for $40USD, and another bidder bid $39.99 with 2 seconds til closing. lol. it is on its way, cant wait for it to arrive. it is red and white with maple leaves on it. a really nice design and one that doesnt come up often.
will post photos when it arrives. on friday, mum and i left for tauranga, to visit family. its a 5 hour drive and i usually end up with a headache which doesnt leave until we get home again. on the way up, we stopped at rotorua and went to the farmers store there. i found something unusual... rusty. he had been mispacked into bash's box. not something ive found before, but this time i found two the same. i left the second as each end had been sliced through by a craft knife when the shelf filler cut the display box open. as a result, i have made a new page for errors. it is here after seeing these two rustys, i started looking for bash, who i was missing. i finally found him today at tauranga farmers. glad to have him at last, now i just need to find his correct rolling stock. i also found the lego advent calendar at the same store.
while in rotorua, we went to the toyworld store. i picked up a 1:87 HO scale hotwheels car and, shockingly, the lego winter village post office. cant wait to start building this and glad to have it for the thomas christmas layout for this years show. in tauranga, we visited bay hobbies. i bought a pile of stuff from them at the palmerston rail x show a few months back, so it was nice to visit their store. there was a model show in hamilton this weekend, so they didnt have a large amount of stock, but i did pick up a santa fe auto loader and some more scale cars to go in it. there were two N scale canadian rolling stock cars there as well, so i grabbed them. i also scored a heap of thomas and tomy from the two zero to five stores. photos of that will have to wait until tomorrow. from various op shops, i got some thomas puzzles and a book, which will be used in my scrapbooks. at a buck store, i found a thomas pencil case which had a book of stickers in. its all genuine, which is good. got that for $2.50. shown below is one of the 10 trays from wendy. i just love these and cant wait to put them to use. thanks, wendy! you rock. in july, my friend from the train club, walter, went to canada. while he was there, he picked up and posted me two tins of tim hortons coffee... my holy grail of hot drinks. when i make a cup of this, i literally drink it with a teaspoon. walter posted these on the 17th july. they finally arrived today, the 12th october. well worth waiting for.
wendy is a lady i bought many of my trackmaster and some tomy thomas engines through [talking diesel 10, takara thomas 65th anniversary set and dash to name a few]
she emailed me the other day and is getting out of the thomas game. she offered me 10 custom made wooden trays for the cost of postage. they arrived today and i have to say, they are awesome! better than i imagined. i have decided to clear out under my bed and put them under there with the vintage locos in some and the most commonly used thomas engines in the rest. in other news, work is progressing on the tri-ang/hornby rolling stock repaints for robs christmas layout. i have got 2 coats of undercoat on each and will do a third on sunday. after that, they will be painted a multitude of colors and the 2 open trucks filled with festive loads... one will have a small flock teddy and some christmas beads. i won on trademe today a wooden frame with alphabet cards for making names. each card features a thomas character. i looked at the same thing at the model train show 2011, but it was too expensive. i think the frame alone was $5 and each letter was $2 or something. i got the frame and at least 34 cards for $4. will put up photos when it all arrives. last thursday, i won this shirt on trademe for $15. it arrived at 6.30 this morning. i just love it! the snowflakes have white plastic rhinestones stitched to the middles. it looks really nice on. i tried it this morning with my christmas cowboy hat and buffalo bolo tie. perfect! photo credit goes to the seller. i tried to get one of me wearing it, but i look all kinds of crazy, haha. no way is that being shown, lol.
my new rc pooped percy arrived today. he has some paint damage, but nothing too major. he is the original HIT entertainment release. not sure if he originally came with a third wagon or not. will have to google and figure it out.
mum and dad got home safe, sound and kid-free! they brought back the stuff from zero to 5. $68 was a good price for this lot... theres quite a bit of stuff. i got 3 tunnels, 3 repair sheds, a 3 way manual point, 2 damaged draw bridges, a 'jigsaw puzzle" [a dismantled vintage engine that is missing most of the parts, including half the housing!] 2 pretty decent slopes and a multitude of track and other bits and bobs. i found something interesting with the repair sheds. usually, when you press the orange buttons, a sign appears on one side, and an upside down workman appears at the other. 2 of the 3 from this lot have false buttons... they dont press down and theres nothing to pop down. not sure what the story is.
i won a trackmaster rc pooped percy on trademe last week. should be here tomorrow. i also won a cowboy shirt to wear for the christmas show... hopefully wont be far away either. |
