when you pull the string, it makes them quack a little tune, and the wheels are offset so they wobble as they roll.
picked up these pull along ducks from two different bags at savemart. got them both due to the colors of the ducklings being reversed.
when you pull the string, it makes them quack a little tune, and the wheels are offset so they wobble as they roll. shot a short video of the phone in action. a very cute toy that has likely delighted countless kids over the last 40-odd years. new toy first, because it is the more exciting news, lololol. i picked up this terrfying wee gem from the sallies today for a whole $2.50. curiousity got the better of me with regards to its workings after i chucked a battery in and after a while the eyes and mouth went, and it started talking. inside it has a "belt driven mini record" with a stylus, and when a lever is pressed [or the rotary is dialled], it moves the stylus and triggers one of 5 [so far thats what i have heard] phrases. "tell me a story, can you talk a while, how are you today, do you have a pet and lets go to the ????" [i cant decide if it says park, beach or zoo.] it had a clump of hair on the stylus, and still has one at the centre of the record that i cant reach right now. i am picking it is from the 70s or thereabouts. such a clever design for the age of it. i also started a new job last week. still in the training period, so will see how we get on. see, i told you the phone was more exciting! LOL
this year, i attended the palmerston north lego show as an exhibitor instead of a spectator for the first time.
i had planned on taking the bike on 3 of the day, but typically the weather turned extremely nasty with really strong winds and heavy rain. saturday saw at least 2 hail storms and several thunderstorms. not fit riding weather no matter how determined! luckily, i have good friends within the show and was able to hitch rides to and from, trading lego for petrol, lol. all of us from the wanganui show in march were able to attend, and we had a blast! i was in the middle of coralee/richard and rose/emz, so had great neighbours the entire time. my disney display was well received, which was good. i am hoping to attend again next year, so need to think about what to display. thursday was set up day, and i got there early to help set up the hall, and help coralee and richard bring theirs in, and then stayed late to help emz and rose with theirs, as they couldnt get there until after emz got off work. friday was an AFOL day, where we had workshops relating to build tips, insurance, photography, mindstorms and another which i have forgotten, as bilsy from aussie lego masters turned up during and i quit paying attention, lol. we also had activities like speed building, tower building and finding tiles hidden on displays. i was able to clip off 8 of 12 requirements to receive an exclusive participation brick to add to my show stack. saturday and sunday were open days for the public, and also contained some more activities including ramp jumping and a flexo building contest. flexo is a product that enhances lego, allowing builds of trampolines and suspension bridges, as well as more perfect spheres. over the whole weekend, we had over 6000 through the doors, which was amazing. |
