my jauce box arrived yesterday, bringing home the "pink loader", plarail dvd and two bits of rolling stock. im really happy with everything. click the little pics to visit the pages. an early delivery today contained my items from hobby search. for some reason, you cant have pre-order and instock items shipped together so have to pay more post. the first box i opened contained the track to finish the sidings on my tomix layout, and the new tomytec keihan 700 thomas wrapping pair. these are static, but fit N scale track so can park alongside other items. the decals on it are tiny and well detailed, a really nice set, but i like the earlier rainbow one better. the second box had the pre-ordered item, the pixar dream monsters inc train from plarail. i like detailing on this. sulleys horns have become diesel engine horns, and one side has boo's wardrobe door. the middle car contains wobbling scream cannisters, and the end car is styled on mike. i have a jauce shipment coming too. should be here later this week or early next week. click the pics to see more images. on saturday, i went to maewa steam traction society with sandra, kylie and keegan. blair was there too, along with hamish, colin and ewan who is a member there.
while there, JA1271 steam train went past. since the tracks are right there, the engines on both sides of the fence were tooting back and forth. sounded amazing! one of the traction engines whistles got stuck, so it was going off for a good 10mins. at about lunch time, it was decided we would go to palmerston to see the engine go through the station there. first, we went to the esplanade, a huge playground with a run-down aviary [thankfully being decomissioned], duckpond and huge railway. i had never been before, so it was a nice add-on for the day and a place i really enjoyed. the train was about an hour late getting back, so we had a picnic dinner on the platform. blair was firing it back to its home base, so he was there, too. was a brilliant day out. thanks, guys!! click the pic of the traction engine above to visit the page. it would seem to be the season of school galas lately, with 3 in the last few weeks, and another at the start of april. the most recent was tonight, and i went before club, arriving with 5mins to spare. it was raining, so being a motorcyclist meant i had the associated kit to deal with first. jacket over the backpack with a bungy cord, helmet in the box, and the rain pants stayed on cos they are a mongrel to deal with. wandered over, and waited for the door to the toy room to open. finally got in, spied a toddler push along thomas and knew that wouldnt fit on the bike. went a bit furthur along and saw two dark blue tomy slopes in a box. a box marked $3. needless to say, i scooped it up. it was a mix of tomy dark and light blue, and some brand of wooden track. i told the girl serving she could take the wooden out and resell if, but she said no. i got a few other bits and bobs, paid, and went back to the bike. got the backpack off, and started loading up. managed to squeeze all the tomy stuff into the pack, and knew the wooden wouldnt fit, so took it back for them to resell. they actually offered me some money back! i told them no way. was more than happy to pay $3 for all that! i saw someone else with the box not long after, so they doubled the profit on the trains, which is great for the school. the thomas case, books and a couple of other items brought the days total to $6. was worth getting drowned. i also finally finished painting the manrobe unit. im quite happy with it. its nice to have somewhere to hang jackets again. the drawers are 4 different shades of yellow, with the main body being a different shade again.
no new train additions to note over the last few weeks. i did get a bag of tomy from savemart, along with a pile of the disney dominoes from countdown, and two packs of new-old stock tomy curves, which i bought for their boxes from another collector.
i also nailed down the tomix track, and added some glitter paint to to the parking area and sea scape. not enough to be distracting, but enough to catch the eye. been lots of progress on the furniture front though. the manrobe is coming along, and my new bed arrived yesterday. the manrobe is primarily yellow, with different shades on the drawers, and lavender doors. still needs a few coats, and ive run out of the main color, so ordered some. |
