went down to palmy with the folks to pick up the hypercity mega station set that i put on laybuy last week. we stopped in at farmers and i found talking salty and gordon! unfortunately, salty will have to go back as he doesnt move when placed on the track. i had the same issue with james. right pain the backside. for $35NZD, they should run exactly as expected. not good enough for a major company like mattel/fisher price. i also grabbed the tomica overpass from farmers as it was reduced.
photos of the talkers are on this page, the hypercity are here, hypercity instruction here and pla kid here i won an auction earlier this week that included two road track turntables. you set them at the end of the road and the vehicles power it to turn them around and send them back. handy if you can make a full layout or run out of room. it also has a 4 way junction and two 3way junctions. handy stuff!
the massive parcel from steve at tootally thomas arrived today. im really impressed with the delivery speed. it was sent from the uk on thursday and arrived in new zealand on monday. really amazing how quick it got here.
im loving the thomas stuff i got. flora is just lovely and the ferry boat set is wicked! the tumbling bridge set will be fun to try and put together, and its nice to have the two wagon sets. took the bike for a much needed run today down to palmy. toyworld had the tomica mega station set for 50% off, so $99 instead of $199. i stuck one on laybuy cos it was too big to get home without deboxing. didnt buy anything else except a drink. im tossing around the idea of getting some other bits and pieces they had, like a new engine and an overpa
stopped at sanson on the way down and left behind a thomas bucket set that was missing the station and roughly half the track. the guy wanted $25 for it. far too much in my opinion. the thomas stuff i bought from tootally thomas is on its way. the tracking number says its departed heathrow/london. hope it doesnt get stalled in aussie due to the ash cloud!
all up the parcel and postage cost me $400NZD. thank goodness for credit cards and keeping a low limit... could easily go nuts with what steve has on his site! i had an email enquiry from steve at tootallythomas.co.uk. that resulted in me placing a decent sized order for items ive not found locally. im getting flora, mr jollys chocolate cars, sodor ice cream cars, tumblin bridge set and thomas and the ferry boat set.
all up its costing me about $250NZD, not including postage. quite a large amount to spend, but to buy each piece on ebay would cost twice as much. looking forward to that lot arriving. the ferry boat set will probably force the creation of a new page here as its not strictly tomy, but takara tomy i think. mum and dad went to tauranga last weekend to see the kidlets and they called in on vicky and picked up the train bits she had for me. she had the railings for the green suspension bridge. thanks vicky!!!!
this week my boss linda talked me into having my ears pierced... two pieces of ice and a sharp sewing needle and a little blood later, i have holey ears!! LOL. and co worker whitney streaked my hair. she did an amazing job. just grabbed a vintage true heart bear off trademe for an amazng $25NZD. shocking! normally she sells for upwards of $500. great score!
the parcel was sitting on my computer chair when i got home from work. its so cute!! the engine makes a wicked racket when its switched on. the inside is clear of fluff and stuff, but its also dry as a bone, so hopefully a spot of lube will quiet it down some. other than that, its minty mint! so glad to have it, its a lovely addition.
the merry go set hasnt arrived yet. hopefully it wont be too far away.
mum and i went to palmy last weekend and we visited terrace end books and toys. i had decided i wanted a canadian loco and stock to run on the club layout. i love my little mehano, but its so damn tiny everyone thinks its a kids toy as opposed to a real HO engine. i spent $245NZD at the shop and came home with a model power set [track, power supply, canadian national loco and 3 wagons], 2 bachmann canadien refrigerated cars and a bachmann 4-4-0 jupiter. the jupiter is the love of my layout, its so cute! its not much bigger than the mehano, but i had to have it. lol no new thomas additions to report, even though ive been looking constantly. hope to update again soon, li |
