all up, this set cost me $270, not too awful bad really. shouldnt take too long, couple of weeks maybe? should get here in time for christmas in july! LOL
received confirmation today that super has shipped my christmas set. it arrived from the seller to him in something like 2 days, and the seller had used several rolls of toilet paper for packing. different, but effective. lol. super replaced it with newspaper etc.
all up, this set cost me $270, not too awful bad really. shouldnt take too long, couple of weeks maybe? should get here in time for christmas in july! LOL well, fisher-price have basically replaced the trackmaster track we are used to, switching to a new design which has sleepers with open spaces between. they have also created much steeper hills, steeper even than the vintage dark blue ones by the looks of it. the new track also has a new connector, and the initial sets will have adapaters included, thankfully. pics on ebay also say the engines are redesigned, with more powerful motors and the tyres have huge teeth, not the grooved ones we know. they arent due out until later this year, but i have put 4 new pages together in prep for them. the other week, i bought mums christmas present, a 1:76 scale bus in the livery used on the gold coast of australia. the sign on the front indicates pacific fair, our favourite shopping centre there, and also the start point of almost every bus trip to other centres.
i will open it and slip the aussie money i also plan to give in behind the bubble. perfect. while browsing on ebay the other night, i saw the big trackmaster christmas set with a buy now of $110USD. after a couple of frantic messages to american collectors, super agreed to buy it for me. this set is near impossible to find for a reasonable price. be nice to have an alternative christmas show layout too. thank you so, so much super! you are an awesome friend! just remembered this bit, lmao. last weekend was a long weekend here, and i spent 2 of the 3 days down at the steamrail sheds.
steamrail recently gained permission to run their motorised jiggers on a section of mainline track. they had their initial runs on sunday, to check everything was working well, and also to show delegates of FRONZ in town for the annual conference. i was down for most of the day taking photos and the helped with pack up. on monday, they opened for the public, charging a gold coin for a ride. they also did a sausage sizzle. guess who got roped into cooking over 120 sausages? LOL. made for a really long day, with nothing to eat between breakfast and dinner. well worth it though! really enjoyed both days. |
